Pea Soup Strings is an online shop dedicated to high-quality, handcrafted wooly nylon yoyo strings. Each string is made with precision, using premium-grade nylon materials and specialized construction techniques.
We use several carefully selected wooly nylon brands to make our strings. We go further by blending them together to create all-new, completely unique nylon recipes. Like paper & pencil, fries & burger, voices & musics or even Batman & Robin, they are great on their own but together they becomes something more, something different.
As you can probably tell by the name, I am a proud Pea Soup (French-Canadian) artisan. 🇨🇦
The 1985 Odyssey 🪀
My yoyo odyssey began in 1985, at the age of 10. After a visit to my classroom by a "yoyo man", a yoyo club was formed at school. The experience only lasted two months... but I never stopped dreaming of being able to do what I had seen that day.
It wasn't until twenty years later, in 2005, that I bought my first wooden yoyo. Most of the time, it stayed in a drawer. Then, in 2009, in a local shop, I discovered my first butterfly yoyo: a white Duncan Freehand Zero (FH0). That's when the magic truly happened...
Born for Nylon
In 2019, I bought my first nylon strings from Airetic. I was blown away—the softness and quality completely amazed me. In that moment, I knew I was born for nylon. So imagine my reaction when Airetic stopped producing their strings...
I had to take matters into my own hands. That's how the search for the perfect nylon thread began. I experimented with several types of "wooly" nylon, all different, yet surprisingly similar. Through this process, I discovered that each brand had its own strengths and weaknesses. But when combined in The Kitchen, they open the door to an entirely different world.
Meet the Real Boss: Chef Lynx 🐾
Today, I don’t actually run the shop anymore... Chef Lynx does. I just mix the fibers and try not to get in the way!
She is a Highland Lynx with big thumbs who joined the Kitchen one day while the strings were drying. She now acts as our Chief Quality Officer, strictly supervising our advanced tension and approving every batch with a gentle paw slap before they are packed into our 60 unique collectible pouches.
